Students Gained Good Achievements in CMC

The preliminary contest of 8th Chinese Mathematics Competitions was held in Handan campus of Fudan University in recent days, and 28 students from our university joined. This competition was divide into non-mathematical and mathematical type. And for the first time in this competition, our university had Math Major Students to participate in.

This competition which is sponsored by Chinese Mathematical Society (CMS) is a national high-level contest facing to the undergraduates. It can not only excite the studentsinterest to study math, but also find and select innovative talents. The Applied Math Department of School of Sciences organized teacher group who has rich teaching experience to be responsible for competition organization, talent selection, training and participation, and was supported by leaders greatly.

The selection for this competition started in our university from May. Under the cooperation of teachers of Applied Math Department, about 200 students participated in this selection on May 4, and nearly 40 students were selected to join the training at last. The training was divided into foundation deepening, module strengthening and generalization sprint, across spring, summer and fall semesters. Our students gained historical achievements under the common efforts of students and teachers. In non-mathematical competition, Huang Bingsheng and Zheng Shuang won national second and third prize respectively, Shao Qing won city-level third prize; and in mathematical competition, Lin Yihai won city-level third prize.
