From November 23 to 24, Song Baoru, the secretary of the party committee of our university led a delegation to visit University of Sunderland (England), University of Northampton (England) and Institute of Technology Tallaght, and negotiated with these universities regarding the field and level of international school-running and gained good effects.
The delegation visited University of Sunderland on 23th. This university is composed of four colleges: Art, Design and Media College, Business and Law College, Applied Sciences College and Education and Society College. This university is a public comprehensive university, and famous for high-quality education. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Sky Zheng, the Director of international office of this university. Sky Zhang introduced the disciplines setting, education mode, overseas students training proposal and cooperation between enterprise and university. Doctor Yao Li, the person-in-charge of International Business Department of School of Economics and Management introduced the professional training proposal and practical teaching of hotel management department and others of our university. Both parts discussed and made a consensus on operation projects, student exchange and teacher training. The vice president of University of Sunderland and its CEO Ms. Shirely met with Song Baoru and the delegation, and made a friendly discussion. And Song Baoru, Ms. Shirely and the CEO, on behalf of their own university, signed the student exchange agreement. The delegation also visited the campus of this university.
The delegation visited University of Northampton on 25th. This university, which is one the first batch of England comprehensive universities which get the approval of Ministry of Education, has established for 800 years and is located at Northampton, England. At present, it owns Park and Avenue campus.Firstly, the delegation discussed with Ms. Thomasnon, the head of international cooperation project of art college and Ms. Deborah, the Director of Marketing, International Relations and Human Resources Department at Park campus. Both sides exchanged extensive views and reached consensus on discipline cooperation, student“2+2”,“3+1”proposal. The delegation also visited the College of Business and Law, and discussed with its president, Mr. Mark Cusiter, and exchanged views and reached consensus on discipline cooperation and student exchange project. Additionally, they visited this campus.
The delegation visited Institute of Technology Tallaght on 28th. This institute is established in September, 1992, located at Dublin. This institute, as one of 13 institutes of science and technology which are supported by Government of Ireland, has various course setting and establishes certificate, diploma and degree course. Its flexible teaching system satisfies different requirements of students. This institute has three colleges: College of Engineering, College of Science and Computer, and College of Business and Humanity, including the Department of Information Science, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, Marketing, Marketing Management, Image Media, Applied Language and European Research. In this institute, the delegation was warmly welcomed by its president Mr. Thomas Stone. This president introduced the general situation of this institute. Then, Pat Coman, the Director of Development Department, Fiona Cranley, the President of College of Engineering and the Director of Department of Electronic Engineering, Angela Feeney, the President of College of Business And Humanity introduced the condition of international school running and the discipline situation and school running features of their own college. Our delegation and relevant persons of this university exchanged views and reached a broad consensus on school-running cooperation in such disciplines as electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, network engineering, computer science and technology and hotel management, and on language requirement for foreign students studying in this institute, 3+1 and 2+2 study method, tuition standard, academic diplomas, school feature advantage and challenges in studying abroad. The delegation also visited the electronic, mechanical and pharmacy laboratory and communicated with some Chinese students.
Our delegation made good preparations for this visit. The persons from Office of the Party Committee, Organization Office, College of Arts and Sciences and School of Economics and Management who attended this visit had combed the potential cooperation fields before traveling, and communicated with related persons of those universities so as to lay a good foundation for actual visit effect.
